KATHMANDU, Jan 14: Embassy of the People's Republic of Bangladesh in Kathmandu is organizing the 3rd Bangladesh Expo 2017 at the Bhrikuti Mandap Exhibition Hall from January 17 to 21.

The expo will showcase Bangladeshi building and construction materials, readymade garments, saris, plastic products, cosmetics, ceramics, tiles, jute and jute products, leather products, textiles, footwear, home appliances, handicraft items, food items, sanitary fittings, and jewelries, among others.

The expo will have 100 stalls, according to the organizers.

Speaking at the press meet in Kathmandu on Friday, Mashfe Binte Shams, the ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal, said that the embassy has invited big companies and entrepreneurs of Bangladesh to participate in the expo. She added that the expo will further enhance the trade and business relation between Nepal and Bangladesh and familiarize Bangladeshi products among Nepali entrepreneurs and consumers.

“The five-day event will also feature Nepali products,” she said, adding: “Many entrepreneurs of Bangladesh are interested to start their business in Nepal. Nepal imports huge amount of bathroom fittings from countries like Argentina, Italy and other European countries. Nepalese entrepreneurs can import such items in cheaper rate from Bangladesh, as we are just 38 kilometer far from Nepal.”

According to the organizers, the previous editions of the expo had recorded the transaction of around Rs 50 million each. The organizers are expecting more than 60, 000 visitors this year.
