Nepal Army's ex-servicemen's convention kicks off

POKHARA, March 23: The ex-servicemen convention organized for the ex-servicemen who are permanent residents in seven districts under Nepali Army's Western Divisional Headquarter has started.

Chief of Army Staff Prabhuram Sharma inaugurated the conference at Phulbari barracks in Pokhara, with the participation of 3,894 retired soldiers who are permanent residents of Manang, Kaski, Syangja, Parbat, Baglung, Myagdi and Mustang.

With the establishment of the Nepali Soldier Welfare Board, the Army has been holding Bhupu Sainik Conferences in various areas. According to the directorate of military public relations and information, the number of Bhupu soldiers who have accepted resignation on pension is 81,643. The total number of pensioners is 97 thousand five hundred and 15, including 15 thousand eight hundred and 72 family pension beneficiaries.

In the conference, march by representatives of ex-servicemen, tableau performance, group dance to national song, piti and military band performance, veteran soldiers honour, 'wheel cheer' and distribution of crutches, honoring mothers and fathers who have more than four children entering the army, honoring centenarian men and women and interaction. And will be discussed.

Targeted towards retired soldiers and persons on family pension, the conference provided a great opportunity for reuniting ex-servicemen who have contributed in various ranks, assignments, units and locations. From the conference, the military leadership will reach various places and interact with ex-servicemen and their families, and will receive important suggestions for evaluating the efforts made by the army for the welfare of its beneficiaries and formulating future plans.

The Army expects that the social prestige and self-esteem of all the beneficiaries will increase from such a gathering which will increase intimacy, trust and confidence between the army, the military leadership and the beneficiaries. There will be a conference of Bhupu soldiers permanently residing in Gorkha, Lamjung and Tanahun on Friday at Army's No. 3 Bahini Base, Khairenitar, Tanahun. It has been informed that 11 thousand three hundred and 17 will participate in the conference. The purpose of the conference is to honor the faith and trust of ex-servicemen towards the country and institutions, and it is an opportunity to appreciate their contribution to the national service.
