KATHMANDU, July 19: Nepal has appealed to all vaccine manufacturing countries to provide an additional amount of COVID-19 vaccines either on grant or for procurement.
A cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister's Official Residence in Singha Durbar on Monday made the appeal in view of the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the country, according to the Government's Spokesperson and Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Gyanendra Bahadur Karki.

The cabinet meeting has also decided to thank all the countries that supplied vaccines and various medical essentials to Nepal. "We have asked all vaccine producing countries and our friendly countries to provide us with an additional amount of vaccines either on grant or for procurement," said Karki.
Nepal has administered Covishield, Vero Cell and Johnson and Johnson vaccines to people of various age groups. Nepal is in negotiation with various countries to import additional COVID-19 vaccines to administer vaccines to all people by mid-March, 2022.
