KATHMANDU, Jan 13: A delegation of Nepali lawmakers led by former speaker and chairman of the Constituent Assembly Subas Nembang is visiting China for a week.

The delegation is scheduled to leave for China on Sunday, in the invitation of Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), which is a government organization.

Nambeng; Rabindra Adhikari and Ichha Raj Tamang from CPN-UML; Ramhari Khatiwada, Kiran Yadav, Bharat Kumar Sah and Umesh Shrestha from Nepali Congress; Asha Koirala from UCPN (Maoist); Kamala Devi Sharma from Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal; Kumar Khadka from Akhanda Nepal Party; and independent lawmaker Attar Kamal Musalman are in delegation.

Nembang is visiting abroad for the first time after the promulgation of the new constitution. He had vowed to avoid foreign trips until the country gets new constitution.

According to a lawmaker in the delegation, they are to meet with Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao and Zhang Dejiang including other senior members of CPC. "High-level meetings have yet to be confirmed," said Nembang.

The delegation team is scheduled to return in January 23.
