KATHMANDU, Sept 7: Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman Subas Nembang has pressed the prime minister to reach a consensus on ending parliament obstructions and expediting the constitution-writing process at the top political level at the earliest.

Nembang asked Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal to create an environment to end the ongoing parliament obstructions. Unified CPN (Maoist) lawmakers have been continuously blocking the parliament meetings ever since Nepal became prime minister in May.

Similarly, constitution-writing process has been badly hampered due to deepening mistrust among the main political parties. The CA secretariat is working to reschedule its timeline for a sixth time after it failed to meet the set deadlines.

Nepal told Nembang that he is working toward creating conducive political environment. "I am holding separate meetings with Nepali Congress President Girija Prasad Koirala and Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal within a couple of days," Nembang quoted Nepal as saying, adding, "And I am holding a joint meeting of political parties as well at the earliest for the same purpose."
