“We have finalized the price at IRs 4.75 per unit with an additional 4 paisa cost per unit as the margin charge for the Power Trading Corporation of India. The deal should be ready within two weeks,” the source said.
The Power Trading Corporation (PTC) is making necessary arrangements for the 30-MW additional electricity supply to Nepal, to be made available via Ramnagar in Bihar state of India.
NEA had made public its proposal for power import through the 132-KV line at Gandak Power Station in Nawalparasi district in March. The additional supply is expected to reduce load-shedding to 12 hours daily.
Since the last week of February, India has made available 50MW to Nepal through the Kataiya-Duhabi 132 KV transmission line and approximately 4 MW through Kataiya-Rajbiraj. The Kataiya-Biratnagar 33KV transmission line is also being made available to Nepal. This electricity is being provided at a concessional rate under a Power Exchange Agreement between the two countries, the Indian Embassy has said.
The Forbesgunj-Kataiya 132 KV transmission line, destroyed by Koshi flooding in August 2008, was restored in the last week of February to match the timeframe for restoration of the Kataiya-Duhabi 132 KV transmission line on the Nepal side by NEA.
