KATHMANDU, Jan 27: Shivam New Diamond Academy (NDA) is all set to organize the first Shivam New Diamond Cup National Open Women’s Volleyball Tournament from February 4.

KATHMANDU, Jan 27: Shivam New Diamond Academy (NDA) is all set to organize the first Shivam New Diamond Cup National Open Women’s Volleyball Tournament from February 4. 


Tournament director Kumar Rai informed that the three-day tournament will feature top six teams from the ongoing 13th Red Bull Dhorpatan UM Women’s Volleyball Double League Tournament and will be played at the Dhorpatan Sports Training Center Ground at Gongabu in Kathmandu. The tournament will be played in league cum knock-out format dividing the teams into two groups.

“The tournament is being rushed because of the busy schedule of the Nepal Volleyball Association. So, we have taken the teams who finish top six in the Dhorpatan Double League,” Rai said, “We will add more teams in the tournament in the upcoming days to make it grand.”


The winner of the tournament will take home Rs 151,000, while the runner-up will be rewarded with Rs 101,000. Likewise, the third-placed and the fourth-placed teams will get Rs 51,000 and Rs 21,000 respectively. Similarly, the best player, the best spiker, the best setter, the best blocker, the best quicker, the best server and the best defender will be prized with Rs 10,000 each. 


The sales and marketing vice-president of Shivam Cement Limited, Sajan Devkota, handed over the check of Rs 500,000 to Rai on the same occasion. 


“We are extremely delighted to be associated with this tournament,” Devkota said, “We will keep on continuing our support and relation with New Diamond in the coming days.”
