KATHMANDU, Dec 5: The much-awaited Secretariat meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has begun at the prime minister's official residence in Baluwatar.

Although Prime Minister K P Oli had earlier warned of boycotting the meeting if the political paper presented by Executive Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal is not withdrawn, Prime Minister Oli has also participated in the meeting.

Sources said Prime Minister Oli, who is also the chairman of the NCP, agreed to participate in the meeting after the two chairmen held one on one meeting to resolve their differences just before the Secretariat meeting. The two leaders had not talked to each other for the past 25 days.

Earlier, leaders close to Prime Minister Oli had held a series of meeting with Executive Chairman Dahal. President Bidya Devi Bhandari had also taken the initiative to resolve the ongoing rift between the two top leaders within the NCP, holding one on one meeting with both the leaders.

Prime Minister Oli had chosen to skip the Secretariat meeting held on Tuesday. The Secretariat meeting was put off till Saturday due to Oli's absence from the meeting.

NCP leaders said the Secretariat meeting will dwell on holding discussions on the political paper presented first by Executive Chairman Dahal and the response put forth by Oli later.
