He clarified that the statement made by NC leader Sujata Koirala that NC should join the present government was her personal opinion and that NC can´t join the government currently as his party doesn´t trust UCPN (Maoist) for concluding peace process. [break]
Speaking at a press conference organized by Press Union in Nepalgunj, Koirala said NC will join the government only after favorable environment is created for concluding the peace process.
“The recent statements by Maoist leaders are somehow positive as compared to the past. We can trust them only if they translate their promises into reality,” he said.
He even demanded that Maoist party should return the seized property and dissolve its para-military structure.
Responding to a question about Maoist combatants´ integration, Koirala said that not more than 4,000 combatants could be integrated into the Nepal Army.
He added that the decision of the Maoist party to give Rs 700,000 to Rs 1 million per head to the combatants as part of their rehabilitation package is high amount.
NC president Koirala concluded that the Maoist party itself is an obstacle to conclude the peace process.
