"It is a constitutional provision that incumbent Chief Justice becomes the Chairman of the election Council of Ministers. And, once he resigns from the CJ post, it would create new problem as who would be the head of government. Therefore, CA election must be held within third week of November to give political outlet, and rid the country from further crisis," he stressed. [break]
Speaking at a programme organized by Nepal Student Union´s Lamjung-Kathmandu Liaison Committee in the Capital today, leader Poudel said party President Sushil Koirala had not demanded Chairman Regmi´s resignation but
given suggestion to the Chairman Regmi to address the demands of agitating parties including Mohan Baidya-led CPN-Maoist.
Moreover, Vice-President Poudel said there are several countries including Greece and Bangladesh which had the election under the leadership of Chief Justice. It was quite condemnable on the part of some legal practitioners and civil society representatives to object to the present government, he added.
"The Baneshwor gathering of the civil society representatives was condemnable," he said, adding that it was against republic, against democracy.
Similarly, he said he would fight under the direct election in the coming CA election disregarding what the top leaders do.
At the programme, he honoured cine actor Nisha Adhikari who scaled the highest peak of the world recently. She is from Lamjung district.
