KATHMANDU, Sept 20: Constituent Assembly (CA) members of the Nepali Congress, the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) and the Tarai Madhes Democratic Party on Sunday jointly filed a note of dissent against a decision taken by the CA Committee on Distribution of Natural Resources Financial Rights and Public Revenue.

The committee on Friday had made a decision in favor of the Maoist´s proposal of allowing the government to seize land above the ceiling.

Eighteen CA members from the three parties signed the note of dissent. Other two lawmakers -- Binod Chaudhary and Rajendra Khetan -- sent their note of dissent through fax as they were out of Kathmandu.

Lawmaker Tilak Rawal, whose name featured in the list of lawmakers against the provision failed to appear in person to sign the note.

Only 19 members, including 17 members from the UCPN-Maoist, in the 43-member committee are in favor of the decision.
