JUMLA, Sept 3: At a time when the Constituent Assembly (CA) election deadline approaching, disputes over the selection of the candidates to the CA polls have erupted in the Jumla district party offices of CPN-UML and Nepali Congress (NC) parties.

It is learnt that the district level party meetings of both the NC and UML called to settle the issue of candidature selection has ended inconclusively. The row has begun when the trio NC district president Manab Sejuwal, Jumla district committee member Lalit Jung Shahi and Lal Hamal started sticking to their guns for candidature through the first-past-the post (FPTP) system.  [break]

Likewise, Dinbandhu Shrestha, Laxmi Prasad Acharya, Devi Shrestha, Janak Kami have filed their names in the district working committee office, claiming for their candidacy through the proportional representation (PR) system. Even though the solution to the dispute seen over the PR system is likely, the issue over the FPTP system seems to be a hard nut to crack.

On the other hand, Jumla district committee of the UML party has not been able to resolve the issue of candidature selection. As many as 11 candidates have submitted their proposal. District Party Chairman Bal Bahadur Mahat, Chairman Padam Rokaya, and Secretary Ratan Nath Yogi, among others, have filed their candidacy to join the fray.
