KATHMANDU, Aug 5: Nepali Congress (NC), CPN UML and Madhes-based parties jointly held a meeting at the NC party office in Sanepa on Thursday.

Speaking with reporters after the meeting, chairman of Tarai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP) Mahanta Thakur said that NC wanted all the liberal democratic forces to be united to clear the present political deadlock. [break]

NC leader Krishna Sitaula said that they share similar views with the Madhes-based parties over the present political scenario.

However, UML chairman Jhalanath Khanal cautioned that the fourth round of Prime Minister voting scheduled for Friday would not be able to yield any results if the present scenario persists.

Senior leaders of Madhes-based parties—TMDP, Madhesi People’s Rights Forum-Democratic and Sadbhawana Party—were present in the meeting.

Meanwhile, leaders of Madhesi People’s Rights Forum were not present in the meeting.
