In a recent meeting held on Wednesday, top leaders of the coalition partners formed the mechanism under the chairmanship of Prime Minister and UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, with the aim of making the government's work more effective and result-oriented.
The mechanism’s task force includes NC Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka, General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa, Central Member and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, and Central Member and Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba. From the UML side, Senior Vice Chairman Ishwor Pokharel, Vice Chairman and Deputy Prime Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel, General Secretary Shankar Pokharel, and Deputy Secretary General Bishnu Rimal are members of the task force.
Although the meeting a week ago also decided to form a two-party mechanism at the provincial and district levels, the ruling parties are preparing to implement it gradually. The largest parties in the federal parliament have decided to take charge of the task force on a monthly basis, with NC Vice President Khadka coordinating the meetings from November 6 to December 5 in the first month.
Additionally, the task force has decided that Foreign Minister Rana Deuba will coordinate Prime Minister Oli’s upcoming visit to China and oversee the necessary preparations for the official visit to the northern neighbor.
