TAPLEGUNJ, May 16: Dambar Hangam from the Nepali Congress (NC) has been elected the chairman of Meringden Rural Municipality in Taplejung district. He secured 2,869 votes to win the election to the post while his nearest rival Kedar Jung Chongwang of CPN-UML got 2,770 votes.
Likewise, CPN (Unified Socialist)'s candidate Durga Prasad Chongwang has been elected to the post of vice-chairman of the rural municipality. He received 2,598 votes to win the election.
Similarly, Rajan Limbu, a common candidate of the ruling alliance, emerged winner as the chairperson of Faktanglung Rural Municipality with 2,660 votes. His closest contender Saroj Eved from the CPN-UML got 2,392 votes.
Rabin Sama Limbu from the Nepali Congress has been elected to the post of vice-chairperson of the rural municipality with 2,358 votes.
