KATHMANDU, March 11: Nepali Congress has named candidates for all the six constituencies for the April 10 by-elections. [break]
According to party General Secretary Bimalendra Nidhi, party’s Parliamentary Board meeting held Wednesday decided to field Dr Shekhar Koirala in Morang-7, Jagannath Singh Gangai in Morang-5, Dr Chandra Mohan Yadav in Dhanusha-5, Ganga Ram Dangi in Rolpa-2 and Yagya Raj Joshi in Kanchanpur-4.
Dipak Gurung will be contesting from Kaski-1. After debate over names of Ganja Man Gurung and Dipak Gurung for the vacant Kaski seat, the Board asked party’s Acting President Sushil Koirala to settle the issue.
Dr Koirala lost his seat to Physical Planning and Works Minister Bijay Gachchhadar (Madhesi People´s Righs Forum) in the same constituency in the last year’s Constituent Assembly polls. Dr Yadav, a radiologist at Bir Hospital, is contesting from the constituency of his father President Dr Ram Baran Yadav.
In Kanchanpur, party’s senior leader Sher Bahadur Deuba was asked to settle the difference among three candidates. Kanchanpur-4 is a constituency fell vacant following Deuba’s resignation.
Rastriya Janamorcha names poll candidate
Meanwhile, Rastriya Janamorcha, has named its candidates for four constituencies. The party has nominated Jaya Bahadur Malla in Kanchanpur-4, Tej Kumar Budhamagar in Rolpa-2 and Hari Baral in Kaski-1. The party has entrusted its central member Krishna Adhikari to finalize the candidates list for other three constituencies.
