KATHMANDU, May 1: Nepali Congress President (NC) Sher Bahadur Deuba has demanded that the government announce relief packages for the workers and small traders hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The government is responsible for the arrival of such an unwanted situation, he claimed.

According to the NC leader, the first and historic labor movement in the country was held in Biratnagar in 2003 BS under the leadership of the NC and the then government had arrested NC leader BP Koirala and other many leaders in a bid to suppress the movement which was the take-off point for the 1951 people’s revolution. Extending greetings to all workers at home on the occasion of the International Workers’ Day which is also known as May Day, the NC president said the party and workers were always there for mutual support and the common good.
