KATHMANDU, Aug 7: The Nepali Congress (NC) has expressed its disagreement with the draft of the Political Party Self-Evaluation Procedure, 2082 BS prepared by the Election Commission (EC).

Party General Secretary Bishwo Prakash Sharma voiced his opposition to the draft through a statement on social media platform X on Thursday, calling it both a personal opinion and an institutional stance. “Political parties are to be evaluated by the people and the constitution, not by the Election Commission,” Sharma wrote, clearly rejecting the commission’s proposed guideline.

Sharma further added that such an unsuitable procedure should end within the walls of the Election Commission’s office, stating, “Let this unfit path conclude at Bahadur Bhawan! Jai Nepal!”

Earlier, on Wednesday, a meeting of smaller parties  excluding the NC and CPN-UML which was called by CPN (Maoist Centre) Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal also expressed objection to the draft procedure.
