KATHMANDU, Feb 20: The main opposition Nepali Congress obstructed the meeting of the National Assembly on Thursday seeking action against Minister for Information and Communications in connection with a bribery case.
The NC parliamentarians disrupted the upper house meeting by rising from their seats. As soon as the NA meeting began earlier this afternoon, NC lawmaker Jitendra Dev demanded that the information minister immediately be sacked.
The NC has sought Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's opinion after a leaked audio recording of a conversation between Information Minister Gokul Baskota and Swiss Company local agent Bijaya Prakash Mishra made headlines in Nepali media, where the minister is heard bargaining for Rs 700 million in bribe over the procurement of security printing press for the government.
