KATHMANDU, April 28: Nepali Congress has ruled out the possibility of the party joining the present government. "We have decided not to join the government," said party spokesperson Arjun Narsingh KC after the meeting. [break]

KC was referring to rumors that his party was going to join the government after all the contentious issues with the Maoists are settled in a package. "This is our official decision that we are not going to join the government," he said.

The meeting held at party´s central office in Sanepa also decided to continue obstruction in the parliament as agreed with 16 other political parties. "Besides, we have decided to hold further talks with the parties to launch street protest against the government action against army chief Rookmangud Katawal.

"The Central Working Committee meeting concluded that the action initiated by the government against the army chief came with clear intention of demoralizing the national army and bringing a virtual split in the organization," said KC. "Nepali Army is an integral part of the Comprehensive Peace Accord and the Interim Constitution and this is a matter to be decided by the parliament."
