KATHMANDU, Aug 26: The Nepali Congress has decided to nominate Ishwari Devi Neupane as the chair of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee.

The party’s office-bearers’ meeting chose Neupane, who is also a committee member, for the leadership position. Although committee members Hridayaram Thani and Dilendra Prasad Badu were also aspiring for the post, the NC opted to nominate Neupane in the post that fell vacant after the resignation of another NC leader Ram Hari Khatiwada.
Khatiwada resigned following controversy over the cooling-off period provision in the Federal Civil Service Bill. According to the Parliament Secretariat, nominations for the committee chair will be registered on Tuesday, with the election scheduled for Wednesday.
