KATHMANDU, March 26: Nepali Congress (NC) is going to nominate its Central Member Govinda Bhattarai as a candidate for the by-election in Tanahun-1, which is vacant after Ramchandra Paudel was elected to the post of President.
A leader close to NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that it was agreed to field Bhattarai as a candidate in Tanahun-1 on Saturday evening at the office bearers' meeting of NC.
Within the NC, Bhattarai is known as a reclusive leader who does not get opportunities. Bhattarai, who has been the president of the Nepal Student Union and the vice president of the Nepal Tarun Dal, has not yet had the opportunity to contest elections.
