NC needs structural change: Acharya

BIRGUNJ, Sept 12: Leader of Nepali Congress (NC) Narahari Acharya said that there were weaknesses on ideological point of views in the party and a structural change was essential..



Speaking to the media persons at Birgunj on Sunday, he said the NC should concentrate towards creating an environment to take the peace process to a logical end and complete drafting of a democratic constitution rather than for leading the next government.[break]



NC is not an obstacle to the selection of the new Prime Minister, he said and expressed the hope that he eighth round of prime ministerial election on September 26 would elect a new government.



"Ideological, knowledgeable and strong leadership is needed for institutionalizing the federal republic amidst constitutional transition and political challenges," said Acharya.



He said UCPN (Maoist), though the biggest party in the Constituent Assembly, has not been able to distance itself from violent activities. He also blamed the UML of still holding confusion in various current issues including federalism and form of governance.
