NC needs strong leadership: Singh

KATHMANDU, Nov 27: Nepali Congress leader Prakashman Singh has said that strong leadership is necessary to strengthen the party. 

Speaking at a meeting organized to declare the candidacy of Krishna Baniya for the post of the party’s president of the Kathmandu chapter, Singh said that the party is in dire need of strong leadership. “A strong leader needs to be elected through the party’s 14th General Convention to run the party in favor of the public in an institutional, lawful and orderly manner. 

Singh said that there should be a serious review as to why the NC, which led the constitution drafting process in 2015, lost the three-tier elections. 

Similarly, stating that the senior leaders of the party should act as guardians to move the party forward in a lawful manner, central member of NC Gagan Kumar Thapa said that a leader who can give hope and be trusted by the people should be elected through the 14th General Convention of the party.

Similarly, Baniya said that he has announced his candidacy for the second time to strengthen the party. Lawmaker of Kathmandu constituency-10 Rajendra Kumar KC, lawmaker Dibya Mani Raj Bhandari, provincial assembly member Dipendra Shrestha, Deputy Chief of Kathmandu Metropolis Nilkaji Shakya, NC’s president of Chitwan Jeet Narayan Shrestha among others were also present in the program. 

Likewise, Raj Kumar Nakarmi and Gokarna KC are the candidates for vice-president while Govinda Pudasaini and Indra Bahadur Thapa are candidates for the post of secretary from the Baniya panel. Similarly, Romel Shrestha and Amita Pradhan have announced their candidacies for the post of joint secretary.
