NC, Maoist Center face humiliating defeat in Oli’s home town

JHAPA, July 7: Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN (Maoist Center) have failed to win even a single seat in the local level elections in Damak, the home town of UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli.

 Ruling NC and Maoist Center faced a defeat, without winning even a ward member in the Oli’s home town.

Among 52 seats including mayor, deputy mayor and ward chairpersons and members in Damak, UML has won 50 seats including mayor and deputy mayor.

Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) won two seats. UML candidate Romnath Oli has been elected as mayor with 10, 806 votes. His closest rival of RPP got 7, 655 votes.

Similarly, UML’s Gita Adhikari got 12, 625 votes to win the deputy mayor while her closest rival of Nepali Congress Regina Bhattarai got 8, 912 votes.

RPP won ward no. 1 and 7.
