NC leaders Prakash Man Singh, Dr Ram Sharan Mahat, Arjun Narsingh KC, Krishna Prasad Sitaula and Sujata Koirala have expressed their intention to field candidacy for the post of general secretary from the Koirala panel.
“We are miffed at the indecision of Koirala to pick one candidate from among the five aspirants for the post of general secretary,” an aspirant for the post of general secretary told myrepublica.com. “Once he chooses his running mate for the post, other leaders will either choose to support him or make preparations to contest on their own.”
The leaders argued that the delay in announcing name of the candidates for the post of general secretary and treasurer could affect the central level election in the upcoming general convention slated for September 17-21.
Sources said Koirala is, however, waiting for Sujata Koirala, who is currently outside Kathmandu, to hold negotiation before taking any decision to name general secretary candidate. Koirala also plans to hold discussion with NC third front leaders, including Bhim Bahadur Tamang and Narahari Acharya, who were once in the establishment faction.
