KATHMANDU, July 23: The Parliamentary Party (PP) leader of the Nepali Congress (NC) Bahadur Singh Lama has been appointed as the Chief Minister (CM) of Bagmati Province.
Province Chief Yadav Chandra Sharma appointed Lama on Tuesday.
Bagmati CM Lama to seek vote of confidence on July 30
Lama was appointed to the position with the backing of 64 lawmakers from the NC and the CPN-UML in Bagmati Provincial Assembly.
This appointment follows the resignation of CM Salikram Jamakattel.
After Jamakattel’s resignation, Province Chief Sharma had invited parties to submit their claims for the Chief Minister’s position by 5 PM on Tuesday.
Chief Minister Lama and his cabinet colleagues are scheduled to take the oath of office and secrecy on Wednesday.
