NC leader Kandel meets Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath

KATHMANDU, Oct 14:  Former Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) Central Working Committee (CWC) member Devendra Raj Kandel held a meeting with Chief Minister of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath at the latter’s office in Lucknow, Prayagraj,on Friday.

During the meeting, Kandel highlighted the necessity of addressing challenges, especially in the border areas connecting Nepal and India to Uttar Pradesh. He stressed the importance of facilitating seamless cross-border movement and promptly revising the trade policies between the two nations.

Kandel also urged support for the industrial, economic, and tourism development of Lumbini Province, emphasizing its interconnectedness with all Terai districts of the province and Uttar Pradesh. On the occasion, he also expressed the need to resolve issues related to Susta encroachment and the Gandak dam in the border area through high-level bilateral discussions.

Recognizing the potential economic benefits, Kandel requested assistance in encouraging a portion of Uttar Pradesh's 24 million population to visit the religious and tourist sites in Lumbini every year. As part of the discussion, Kandel extended an invitation to Chief Minister Yogi to visit various religious sites in Lumbini Province, including Gajendramokshadham in Nawalparasi Triveni, Lumbini in Rupandehi, Basantpur in Palpa, Srinagar, and Swargadwari in Pyuthan.

Chief Minister Yogi expressed his intention to schedule a visit and promised to do so in the future.
