KATHMANDU, March 7: Nepali Congress lawmakers have strongly condemned the killing of the UDMF cadres by police in Saptari district.
Issuing a press release on Tuesday,the NC lawmakers have condemned the killing and asked the government to provide compensation to the families of the deceased on a par with the martyrs and free treatment to the injured.
“Our attention has been drawn toward the Saptari incident. It seems mysterious that the UDMF cadres staging a peaceful demonstration were fired at indiscriminately during the UML’s Mechi-Mahakali campaign in Saptari yesterday,” reads the press release.
Meanwhile, the NC lawmakers have concluded that the ongoing Madhes issue is a political one and that its solution should be sought politically.
In the statement, the lawmakers have also accused the CPN-UML leaders of inciting Madhesi people by using provocative speeches rather than exercising restraints given the current situation.
