The NC has started its preparations in order to conclude all election programme as per the calendar amidst the rumor that the general convention could be postponed due to ongoing agitation in Tarai.NC Publicity Department Chief, Dr Minendra Rijal, said that there would be no change in the election calendar set by the central committee and that the election programme would be held at all levels in the stipulated timeline.
The ward, village and municipal level election has been scheduled for January 29 but an arrangement has been made to hold municipal level election on the following day (January 30) if it was not likely on the day.
Similarly, electoral constituency based election has been scheduled for February 5 while district election is set for February 8. The 13th general convention is taking place at Kathmandu from March 3-6.
NC district presidents of agitation most-affected districts said though there would be some obstacles in Tarai region, the convention programme would be held in the stated time.
NC Parsa district President Surendra Chaudhary said the convention would be held in an underground manner however it is possible in the stipulated date.
Likewise, NC Bara district President Radhe Chandra Yadav complained the lack of security in villages. "All police posts of the villages have been shifted to the district headquarters citing insecurity".
The district presidents have expected that the forms of protest underway in the Terai-Madhes would be changed with the first amendment to the constitution to address the demand of agitating Madhesi Morcha and that it would move towards resolving the problems in Madhes.
The NC has deputed eelction officers in all the districts to hold the general convention in the stated date, said Election Committee's Coordinator Radheshyam Adhikari.
The Committee's meeting held on Friday had finalized the list of election officers to be deputed in all districts.
The election will take place at ward, VDC, electoral constituency and district levels to elect a new leadership in every structures. There are 470,655 approved active members for the 13th general convention of the party. RSS
