KATHMANDU, Aug 10: The Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to begin preparations for its 15th General Convention.
The party’s Central Working Committee meeting, which began on Sunday at the party’s central office in Sanepa, decided to intensify internal preparations for the convention, party spokesperson Devraj Chalise said.

The meeting also decided to draw the government’s attention to contemporary issues affecting people’s livelihoods, according to Chalise.
The party expressed serious concern over the shortage of cooking gas in the market, VAT imposed on electricity tariffs, an acute shortage of chemical fertilisers for farmers and rising prices.
The meeting concluded that the situation had been exacerbated by inadequate management of gas storage and the government’s short-sighted policies, and urged the government to immediately ease the supply situation.
The Central Working Committee meeting will continue on Tuesday, with political and other issues scheduled for discussion, the party said.
