Addressing the ongoing CWC meeting on Friday, CWC members also asked the party leadership to officially propose putting the disputed issues, such as the model of federalism, to referendum.[break]
NC CWC members Nabindra Raj Joshi and Dip Kumar Upadhyaya had argued that it would be best to put to referendum the contentious issues. “They have argued that the party should propose putting to referendum the contentious issues,” said CWC member Shankar Bhandari. They have argued that a referendum on the issues could be held together with fresh parliamentary election, he said.
While Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat echoed Joshi and Upadhyaya, CWC members Arjun Narasingh KC and Nara Hari Acharya in their written proposal on Thursday had also proposed putting the contentious issues to referendum.
Other CWC members putting forth their views at the CWC meeting included Bal Krishna Khand, Ramesh Rijal, Sujata Koirala, Padma Narayan Chaudhary, Manmohan Bhattarai, Ajaya Kumar Chaurasiya and Pushpa Bhusal. All those speaking at the meeting were against the idea of reviving CA, according to CWC member Man Bahadur Biswakarma.
Biswakarma said CWC members argued that the party should make a formal decision to go for fresh election. They also suggested that the party officially demand local bodies´ election as they are without people´s representatives for the past several years.
The CWC meeting will continue on Sunday as CWC members are yet to put forth their opinions on the political paper presented by the party´s General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula.
