NC central working committee meeting today as well

KATHMANDU, Jan 19: The Nepali Congress central working committee meeting is taking place today also as the party central members are not over with putting forth their views in the meeting. 

The meeting has been taking place at the official residence of the Prime Minister and party president Sher Bahadur Deuba since Thursday. 

The party central office stated that the meeting is holding discussions on the party's preparations for the February 7 National Assembly elections, candidate selection process, alliances with other parties for that election and other contemporary political issues as well as reviewing the party's defeat in the House of Representatives and National Assembly elections, among other issues. 

In the Thursday's meeting, party president Deuba, senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel and leaders Bimalendra Nidhi, Chandra Bhandari, Deepak Giri, Shanker Bhandari, Kalyan Gurug, among over a dozen leaders, put forth their views. 

In the party central working committee meeting on Thursday, Deuba spoke of the need of holding extensive discussion and interaction on the reasons behind the party's poor showing in the House of Representatives and State Assembly elections. 

He also said that a meeting of the party's Mahasamiti (general body) would be called in the near future to discuss on amendment to the party statute in line with the state restructuring as well as to chalk out the future strategy for the party. 

The central committee members speaking in the meeting on Thursday pulled up the party leadership for the party's defeat in the elections by making an assessment of the party's performance while stressing the need of calling the Mahasamiti meeting and formulating a new strategy for the party's reforms. They also spoke on doing solid preparations in view of the National Assembly election taking place on February 7.
