KATHMANDU, May, 27:  The Nepali Congress (NC)  has called a meeting of the current and former office-bearers of the party to form a solid opinion on the cooperative fraud case. According to NC lawmaker Jiwan Pariyar, a meeting is going to be held at Party President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence at 1 PM. He said that the meeting would make a concrete opinion on the cooperative fraud case.

The NC has been alleging that Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane is involved in misappropriation of cooperative funds. The party has been demanding the formation of a parliamentary probe committee to investigate the matter. It has been taking the stance that Home Minister Lamichhane’s name must be mentioned in the mandate of such a committee to be formed. If, in case, his name is not going to be included, the leaders including that of NC will discuss the option of naming Gorkha Media Network in the mandate.

A meeting between the leaders of the ruling parties and the opposition parties held this morning at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar ended inconclusively.

“The proposal of the ruling coalition cannot be accepted. The PM seems positive,” lawmaker Pariyar said, “It seems like the ruling coalition intends to waste our time. The PM has taken opinions from both sides. But the opinion from the other side is not convincing enough for us.”
