NC announces 11-point program on peace and statute

KATHMANDU, Aug 27: Nepali Congress (NC) on Saturday floated an 11-point program on peace process, constitution writing, state restructuring and economic development. NC spokesperson Nabindraraj Joshi made the program public at the NC parliamentary party office in Singha Durbar.



Joshi said that NC-led government would prioritize the completion of peace process and constitution writing based on past agreements. [break]



As per the program, the NC-led government would take forward the talks with the Maoists on the number of combatants to be integrated, modality of integration, and rank harmonization. NC said it would push for the integration and rehabilitation of Maoist combatants as soon as the party takes the government leadership.



The party has also committed that it would push for the handover of combatants´ arms and the return of properties seized by the Maoists.



NC also said it would leave no stone unturned for the promulgation of federal democratic constitution within the extended timeframe.



Likewise, NC would implement all past agreements reached between government, United Democratic Madhesi Front, and other indigenous and backward communities.



NC said it would guarantee the rule of law, security and an end to impunity. Similarly, NC has said that it would prioritize social justice and economic development if it got the chance lead the new government.
