‘Naya Shakti’s poll candidate abducted’

KATHMANDU, May 5: Naya Shakti Party has appealed for safety of the party’s candidate for ward-7 chairman of Nagarjun Municipality Madan Giri, stating that he has been abducted by an unidentified group on Wednesday.

KATHMANDU, May 5: Naya Shakti Party has appealed for safety of the party’s candidate for ward-7 chairman of Nagarjun Municipality Madan Giri, stating that he has been abducted by an unidentified group on Wednesday. 


Party coordinator Baburam Bhattarai on Thursday demanded the government to find his whereabouts immediately and providing him security. According to statement issued by the party, Giri had managed to inform the party leaders that he had been kidnapped by some unidentified group from Nayabazar of Kathmandu Wednesday evening.

“Though the party informed the police about the case, his whereabouts is still unknown and his mobile is switched off,” reads the statement. Stating that such cases are aimed at foiling the environment of the polls, the party has asked the government to create healthy environment for elections by ensuring the safety and security of candidates. 


“We draw the attention of election organizations observing the elections, the Election Commission, National Human Rights Commission, human right activists and other stakeholders about the incident,” reads the statement of Naya Shakti Party.
