Naya Shakti candidate reportedly abducted found safe

KATHMANDU, May 5: Police on Friday morning found candidate for the post of Ward Chair in Nagarjun Municipality from Naya Shakti Party, Madan Giri safe and in sound health in a forest in Godawari, Lalitpur.

KATHMANDU, May 5: Police on Friday morning found Naya Shakti candidate for the post of Ward Chair in Nagarjun Municipality Madan Giri safe and in sound health in a forest in Godawari, Lalitpur.


Giri had been missing for few days. He was thought to be 'abducted' after he could not be contacted by others from Khusibu, Kathmandu on Wednesday evening.

Giri was found in the forest by police at 7:35 am on Friday. 48 years old Giri is candidate for Ward Number 7 of the Nagarjun Municipality in Kathmandu.


Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Range SP Chhabilal Joshi said that there was no evidence substantiating that that Giri was kidnapped.


"The circumstances show that he deliberately remained out of contact ," said Joshi.
