You recently did an exhibition in Germany, how did it go?

My recent exhibition was in Berlin (Germany) in March 2013 which went on for two weeks. The exhibition was a joint effort by Suresh Pradhan, Nepal’s ambassador in Germany, and ex. director of GIZ for Nepal. The exhibition was successful.

How was the response from the European art lovers?

The response was very good and positive. All of them were very interested as the topic of exhibition was global issue on the climate change.

Your exhibition titled “Nature Speaks” came to a close now. Your comment?

The series of “Nature Speaks” first started in Mumbai at Museum Art Gallery. It was nearly three years ago. Last year, the exhibition was held in Solace International, Lazimpat and this year was in Berlin. I have been organizing this particular series in different countries and with the kind of response I received I am fully satisfied with it.

How do you describe the paintings in this series?

As the series itself is called “Nature Speaks”, the paintings are all about the nature and climate change. As the changing climate have a global impact, people have identified with the concept and outcome of the series.

What encouraged you to do a series on nature?

I have always been painting on various current issues like social, political and even peace-related topics. The nature has faces wrath from human kind everyday. So, I basically tried to express how the nature goes through the pain of human encroachment. And being an artist, I can feel its pain too.

Climate change is a buzz word these days. Seems like you too have been affected by that?

It is not only about me. Everybody is facing negative impact of climate change. It’s high time that we must be aware about its consequences and let the people understand the negative impacts of degradation in climate and nature.

Is climate change actually affecting Nepal?

Yes, it is. The growing incidents of floods and landslides are the result of the climate change.

How long did it take for you to complete this series?

It took me two years to complete this series.

Tell us about your latest engagements?

At present, I am working on water color to produce the next series which is called “Monet Garden”. This is quite similar to the recent “Nature Speaks” series. Recently, I was in Paris, and had the opportunity to visit the Claude Monet’s Garden, which is 72 kilometers from Paris; the inspiration has come from there. I am also working for my upcoming exhibition for this year and next year in Europe again.

So, when will you start your new project?

Like I said, my next project is “Monet Garden” which I am going to start very soon. Other upcoming series will depend on what I will get from the surroundings as inspiration.
