A total of 250 youths from 70 districts and 30 from outside the country are taking part in the conference organized with the objective of discussing ways to contribute to socio-economic transformation of the country.
Peace process and transitional justice, federal issues in the new constitution, sustainable economic development and the role of youth will be discussed during the conference.
The three-day conference will also initiate a campaign to ensure voting rights for youths of 16 years and above. It has been organized by the National Youth Federation with support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Speaking at the inaugural session, President of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Upendra Yadav, President of Nepal Sadbhawana Party Sarita Giri, Nepali Congress leader Dr Narayan Khadka, UML leader Pradip Gyawali, former Chair of CA Constitutional Committee Nilamber Acharya, Coordinator of CPN (Maoist) Matrika Yadav and other speakers pointed out the need of youth activism to give a way out to the country currently passing through a transition.
