Organizing a press conference in the capital on Saturday, Birendra Khadka, the vice-president of organizer Nepal Volleyball Association (NVA), informed that the event is being organized in coordination with Tehrathum District Volleyball Association.[break]
Altogether nine teams -- five regional teams, departmental teams Nepal Police, Nepal Army and Armed Police Force (APF), and a University Team -- will compete in the event.
The event is the biggest tournament to be hosted in Tehrathum. Earlier, Regional Volleyball Tournament held in 2043 BS was the biggest event held in the district.
The tournament will be held in league-cum-knockout format. The participating teams will be divided into two groups and the winner and runner-up from each group will qualify for the semifinals.
The top three teams will bag a purse of Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 respectively along with trophies. The best player of the tournament will get Rs 5,000 while the best players in five different positions will be awarded Rs 3,000 each.
The expected cost of the event is Rs 1.6 million. Meanwhile, NVA has formed 151 organizing committees to conduct the tournament.
