National Men's Volleyball begins

TEHRATHUM, March 31: Nepal Police Club, Nepal APF Club, Central Region and Tribhuvan University registered victories in the 27th National Men´s Volleyball Tournament that kicked off on Sunday in Tehrathum.



APF edged past Mid-western Region 25-12, 25-13, 25-11 in the inaugural match of the tournament featuring teams from five development regions, TU and three departmental teams -- Police, APF and Nepal Army.[break]



TU pulled off a 25-22, 27-25, 25-16 victory over Eastern Region in the day´s second match while Nepal Police upset Nepal Army in the departmental derby. Police registered a 25-12, 25-20, 25-19 victory over Army.



Likewise, Central Region defeated Far-western Region. In the most competitive match of the day, Central Region clinched a 25-21, 25-15, 19-25, 25-19 victory over Far-western.



Earlier, National Sports Council Vice-president Pitambar Timalsina inaugurated the tournament, organized by Tehrathum District Volleyball Association on the initiative of Nepal Volleyball Association.



The winner of the tournament will receive Rs 50,000 while the runner-up will get Rs 30,000.
