National men's volleyball from Feb 21

KATHMANDU, Jan 22: National Youth Campaign (NYC) is set to organize the First National Men's Running Shield Volleyball Tournament in Kathmandu from February 21 to 23.

Organizing a press meet in the capital on Sunday, host NYC informed that the three-day event will feature eight teams in total including three departmental and five regional teams. 

This tournament has the highest cash prize in the men's domestic volleyball, according to the organizer. The winner will bag a purse of Rs 350,000 and the runner-up will walk home with Rs 200,000. The third and fourth place finishers will be given consolation prizes of Rs 50,000 each. The best player of the tournament will be given Rs 25,000 while other best players in each four positions and coach will be awarded Rs 10,000 each. On eteam will be given Rs 10,000 as fair play award. 

However, the venue of the tournament is yet to be fixed, according to tournament coordinator Kumar Gurung. “The venue will be finalized by Monday,” said Gurung, who also informed that the next edition of the tournament will be held in Pokhara.  

The total budget of the tournament is Rs 2.2 million.
