National Industrial Fair concludes

KATHMANDU, March 24: The 24th National Industrial Exhibition concluded here on Sunday recording transactions of Rs 30.1 million.



The five-day event was organized by Cottage and Small Industries Development Board (CSIDB) with the objective of promoting goods manufactured by small and micro enterprises.



According to the organizers, the expo, which showcased products from all 75 districts, attracted 107,000 visitors.



The expo, which featured 300 stalls - two each from 75 districts and 150 from Kathmandu Valley, showcased goods under 13 different groups. Products like Dhaka, allo and natural products, leather shoes and goods, handicrafts, food items, organic vegetables, tea, coffee and spices, herbs, felt products, bamboo products, handmade papers, woolen and metal goods, among others, were showcased at the event.



“We are very happy that we have been able to meet our objectives and expectations both in terms of transaction and footfall,” Nabin Kumar Jha, executive director of CSIDB, said.



Speaking at the closing ceremony, Finance Minister Shankar Prasad Koirala said the government will try its best to promote local products.



CSIDB has been organized the expo every year to promote goods produced by small scale industries and to establish them at the national level.



15 entrepreneurs awarded foreign trips


The government is taking 15 best entrepreneurs who participated in the expo on foreign trips.



Finance minister Shankar Prasad Koirala awarded 15 entrepreneurs - one best entrepreneur each from 13 groups, a woman entrepreneur, and a micro entrepreneur at the closing ceremony on Sunday.



The best entrepreneurs will get opportunity to visit different industrial areas in India.



Similarly, consolation prize of Rs 3,000 each was awarded to 16 entrepreneurs and a special prize of Rs 5,000 to an entrepreneur.



Duku Maya Kumal of Nuwakot Dhaka Udhyog won the award from the micro entrepreneur category while Urmila Gautam of Khanal Palpali Dhaka Udhyog won the award from the women entrepreneur category.



Likewise, Shyam Lal Shrestha, Binda Magar, Bal Bahadur Rasaili, Bhai Bahadur Rai, Bir Mani Bajracharya, Prakash Lamichhane, Krishna Bahadur Shrestha, Rana Mati Gurung, Ishwor Kumar Shrestha, Krishna Bahadur Shrestha, Santosh Karki, Narayan Adhikari and Sarita Devi won foreign trips from 13 different categories.
