NADA AutoShow begins

KATHMANDU, Aug 28: The five-day NADA AutoShow 2009 started at the Bhrikuti Mandap Exhibition Hall on Friday. The event, which is jointly organized every two years by Nepal Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) and Global Exposition and Management Services (GEMS), will feature automobiles from some 30 companies. New at the event are Hyundai i20, Suzuki GS150R, two new bikes from Bajaj -- upgrade of Pulsar 220 and Discover 100-- three British designed Megelli motorcycles and previews of Skoda Fabia, Yamaha Fazer 150 and Perodua Myvi.



The event was jointly inaugurated by industrialist Tula Ram Dugad, Jyoti Group Chairman Padma Jyoti and Padma Shree Group Executive Director Rohini Thapaliya after the scheduled chief guest Deputy Prime Minister Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar failed to show up.



Offers galore at NADA



Most dealers and distributors participating in the autoshow have come up with various schemes and offers for booking and sales during the event. The offers range from Rs 5,000 discounts or gifts to larger cash discounts. Syakar Company, the distributor of Honda and Hero Honda, is offering dinner for two persons to be selected through a lucky draw from among people visiting its stall. Similarly, to celebrate it´s silver jubilee, Genesh Enterprises, the distributor of Suzuki bikes, has been asking visitors to fill the names of the models of Suzuki bikes displayed at the event. One lucky winner will win 25 tolas of silver.



Tata



Sipradi Trading, the distributor of Tata, is offering a comprehensive insurance premium and road taxes for a year and customizing the vehicle with basic accessories. They are offering Rs 50,000 cash discount on Indica Vista and Sumo Vista and Rs 100,000 on Indica Xeta, Indigo, Sumo Grande and Safari. Also in offer is a super bumper prize of Rs 1 million for one, four-nights-five-days holiday in Bangkok and Pattaya for five persons, two-days-four-nights trips for two to Pokhara, including paragliding, for 12 persons and gift hampers worth Rs 25,000 for 30 persons.



Honda cars



Syakar Company is showcasing two cars at the event, the Honda Civic and the Honda Jazz. It has offered the Honda Jazz, which sells for Rs 3.2 million, at Rs 3.05 million and Rs 100,000 discount on Honda Civic which costs Rs 4.8 million.



Mazda



Mazda is offering the BT-50 pick-up, which costs Rs 4.2 million, at Rs 3.9 million. Mazda3 is being offered at a discounted price of Rs 3.5 million. Its original price is Rs 3.7 million. Likewise, Mazda6 is available at Rs 5.9 million against its original price of Rs 6.2 million.



Yamaha



Buyers will get coupons and win prizes. The bumper prize winner will win a bike which means the winner will get the money he pays for the bike back. It has also announced a discount of Rs 10,000 on Gladiator. Other buyers will get a scratch card, which offers a discount of Rs 5,000 to Rs 100,000.



Skoda



Morang Auto Works is offering Rs 100,000 discounts on Skoda Octavia 1.9 TDI and Skoda Laura 1.9 TDI, which cost Rs 3.69 million and Rs 4.55 million, respectively.



Hyundai



Laxmi InterContinental is offering Rs 80,000 discount on Hyundai Santro and Hyundai i10.



Chevrolet and Subaru



Vijay Motors, the distributor of Subaru and Chevrolet, has a wide range of discounts. Discounts on the Subaru Forester ranges from Rs 200,000 to Rs 300,000 depending on the option chosen. Among its Chevrolet models, AVEO, Optra and Tavera Neo are offered at up to Rs 100,000 less plus free accessories. In addition to accessories, the top option of the Chevrolet Aveo U-VA comes with up to Rs 125,000 discount while there is Rs 90,000 discount on its lower options. The discount for the lower two options of Spark is Rs 100,000 while the top two options will be sold at Rs 95,000 discount plus a year´s insurance and accessories.



Bama Motors



The distributor of Chery four-wheelers is offering a trip for two to China or Rs 250,000 discount to all people who book a Chery Tiggo SUV during the exhibition.



Zotye and GrandTiger



The two brands, sold by Sajha Business Group, are offered at Rs 100,000 less.



Others



Global Automobiles is offering its India-made Rock, Xpression+ and UFO two-wheelers at Rs 10,000 less. International Motors is offering Rs 5,000 discount on Hartford´s three trail bikes and one ´custom bike´. Similarly, Gold Fish International is offering the 150r and 150m models of its Megelli bikes at Rs 6,000 less and 150s at Rs 4,000 less.
