The patients had been suffering from cough and fever for more than a month. They had reached a health camp operated by NA in the epidemic-hit VDC. NA took them to the district hospital for further treatment as the camp lacked the proper resources.Dr Deepak Pun at the hospital said the NA brought Pabitra Gharti, 62, of Archhani-2, 17-month-old Nirbachan Pariyar and 9-month-old Sarjan Pariyar, both from Archhani-8 for medical care.
According to him, the patients are receiving treatment at a special ward of the hospital to prevent the possible spread of the flu.
The patients could not receive proper treatment at the village and were referred to the hospital for further treatment, informed Dr Anil Dangol of NA. He said that arrangement can be made for their treatment outside the district if necessary.
According to him, the patients haven't been diagnosed with swine flu victims as more tests need to be carried out
As of Wednesday, 27 people in the district have died from the epidemic. Over 5,000 people have received treatments while more than 2,000 patients are still waiting for medical care.
Meanwhile, Dr Govinda KC has reached the villages and started distributing medicine.
Dr KC reached Dhime-1 on Wednesday and treated some patients with joint problems.
According to local Dilli Bahadur Thapa, Dr KC had reached the village in the morning by jeep and provided treatment to over a dozen patients from Dhime Health Post. Thapa said locals visited the health post after learning about Dr KC's visit.
Dr KC said he will stay several more days in Jajarkot to get updates on the epidemic before returning to the capital. "I'll consult with health workers and other stakeholders in the district before distributing the flu medicines that I brought," said KC, adding that he will start distributing medicine from areas hardest hit by the epidemic. "I hope and pray that people of the affected villages get timely access to medicines and treatments," said Dr KC.
