Mutineer cops fail to post bail

SURKHET, July 28: Though the police court has ordered release of 36 police personnel, who were accused of mutiny at Riot Control Battalion of Nepal Police in Nepalgunj two years ago, on bail, they have not yet posted the bail amount.



The court has decided to keep 14 police personnel, including Inspector Ganesh Bahadur Dura, and 22 others, including Sub-Inspector Sailendra Bahadur Basnet, on bail amounts of their salary equivalent to two years and one year, respectively, they are yet to come in the process, said Chief District Officer of Surkhet Birendra Kumar Baniya.



The mutineers are serving jail sentence in Dang and Kailali districts. The Regional Police Special Court (RPSC), Surkhet, has dispatched its letter containing the final verdict to the jails where the mutineers are languishing, but they are yet to come into the contact of the Regional Police Office.



The court had decided to put mutiny leader Dhan Bahadur BK and 13 others in jail for seven years.
