Musikot Municipality unveils Rs 379 million fiscal budget

RUKUM, July 16: Musikot municipality has published its first estimated budget at the first municipal council organized in the district headquarters Musikot. 


Presenting the policies and programs, Municipal Chief Devilal Gautam said that the budget of Rs 379 million has been estimated for coming fiscal year 2017/18. On the income side, the estimates are Rs 9.8 million from inland revenue, Rs 232 million from equalization grant, Rs 130 million from conditional grants, and Rs 232 million from other sources.

On the expenditure side, Rs 11 million has been estimated for economic development, Rs 147 million for social development, Rs 141 million for infrastructure development, Rs 13 million for environment and disaster management, and Rs 65 million for institutional development, service flow and good governance.


The municipality has prioritized programs related to agriculture, tourism, road and infrastructure, drinking water, sanitation, information and communication, cooperative, education, health, and other targeted community based programs. 


Gautam has presented targeted programs such as encouraging construction of earthquake-resistant homes and facilitating application for citizenship inside the municipality. He has also put forward programs to stop uncontrolled quarry operation and sand mining, to prepare DPR for electricity production from Sanibheri River, to establish child-friendly village, to implement minority residence program, and to establish indigenous archeological museum.    

Appreciating the policies and programs as being people-friendly, Chief District Officer Bansi Kumar Acharya said that if properly implemented, they could turn Musikot municipality into the queen of hills.
