KATHMANDU, June 26: Godavari Municipality of Lalitpur district has announced an annual budget of Rs 2.33 billion for the fiscal year 2023/24. The budget was presented by Deputy Mayor Muna Adhikari during the executive meeting of the municipality. The allocation of funds includes Rs 35 million for infrastructure development, Rs 30 million for the health sector, and Rs 5 million for education.
Additionally, Rs 22 million has been allocated for heritage conservation, water supply, construction of sports infrastructure, purchase of fire engines, and bus operations. The budget also includes Rs 15 million for agricultural development, with each of the 14 wards in Godavari Municipality receiving an allocation of Rs 15 million for agricultural projects.
What is missing in budget for agriculture?
Furthermore, the budget has allocated Rs 30 million for street lighting, garbage management, vegetable market operations, self-employment programs, irrigation, and construction of tourist trails. An amount of Rs 1 million has been allocated for information technology initiatives.
Gajendra Maharjan, the Mayor of Godavari Municipality, stated that the budget prioritizes infrastructure, health, and education. He emphasized the distribution of vegetable seeds in suitable agricultural areas, the implementation of loan programs with grants and interest concessions for women entrepreneurs and farmers, and the promotion of religious tourism.
