Murderer nabbed after 18 years

BIRGUNJ, Oct 8: Police in Parsa district have finally arrested a convicted murderer who had been absconding for the past 18 years. Abdul Gafar, now 56, who had been absconding after murdering Kallu Badhai, an Indian national, in Kapilvastu district on August 21, 1994, was arrested on Monday.



The police, acting on a tip-off, nabbed Gafar while he was asleep in a house in Inarwa of Parsa. [break]



He was convicted of murder and sentenced to 20 years in prison by the District Court of Parsa.



“He was involved in smuggling, too,” police inspector Sujan Joshi said. He has been taken to Kapilvastu.
