RAJBIRAJ, March 3: The Saptari District Court, on Wednesday, slapped life imprisonment on two suspects for murdering a minor two years ago. One of the two convicts is the mother of the murdered child.

A single bench of Judge Harichandra Dhungana convicted Rani Mandal of Ranigadh Rural Municiaplity-5, and her lover Shiva Shankar Mali of the murder of her one and a half years old daughter Pramila Mandal on July 27, 2016. It has been found that they murdered the child and threw the body in a river.

Since both of them had the intention of disappearing the corpse, they have been slapped another six months of jail term in addition to the life imprisonment by the court. Previously, Rani's husband Surya Narayan Mandal had filed a case against the two for murdering the child. Rani and Shiva Shankar were in an illicit relationship for a long time. After their affair surfaced out, they murdered the child and ran away to Kathmandu.
